Jardines de Trapiche

Dear Members,
Some of you, despite the restrictions of the Covid scare, may have wondered, even worried, if the Club is still in existence.  Well, it is alive if not kicking and frustrated at being unable to meet for many months.  Bearing all this in mind and having recently visited the Trapiche Market held at the Jardines de Trapiche gardens we wanted to suggest to the members that they might enjoy a Tuesday out, during this beautiful October, in lovely surroundings.  Greg and Carol will be visiting the market this coming Tuesday, 20th and the following Tuesday so please join us for a coffee – cakes on offer too.  There are various craft stalls, too many to mention, plus two fruit and veg stalls, bric-a-brac, second-hand furniture, basketware etc.
The organizers of the market take all steps to ensure people’s safety; such as obligatory hand washing on entry, mandatory mask wearing and rigorous social distancing.  In addition, the large and beautiful gardens offer even double the social distance spacing between tables and chairs that are seen in bars and restaurants. This garden is set up for weddings and celebrations and, as such, is one of the best examples of excellent gardening that we have seen in Spain.  Let us all do our bit to help local businesses to survive in these troubled times and beyond.  After all, as they say, if we don’t use it – we’ll lose it.
If you’re a gardener for whom plants play an integral, necessary part of your life a visit will lift your spirits and invigorate your soul.  But hurry – before the weather turns too unpredictable.
The market is open on Tuesdays from 9.30 to 1.30.  The venue is easy to reach from Competa to Algarrobo onto motorway coming off at Velez Malaga, follow A356 to El Trapiche, turn left at El Trapiche onto MA3113 then turn left into Jardin del Trapiche.  There is a large purpose-built car park.
We hope we’ll see you there, Greg and Carol Starr.
